Field Trips

Day Trips are taken several times a year and happen spontaneously when an event arises or someone hears of a great place to visit. Carpools are arranged and we normally stop at a restaurant for lunch. Among other programs last year, Kathy English had a garden party in her backyard to exhibit her dahlias after the club had a program on dahlias. We also had lunch and a program at Good Earth Greenhouse on succulent gardens and house plants. If you have an idea for a trip, please tell Elaine Allen (rightexposure@mac.com) or Kathy English (kathryn_english@comcast.net)

McDonald Farm Visit
Please sign up for the trip to McDonald Farm in Naperville on Friday, May 7, 2021; leaving at 9:30 am and arriving at the Farm at 10:30 am. There is no cost but a donation to the Conservation Foundation would be appreciated. The Garden Club of Hinsdale recently had a tour of the farm and said “Jim Kleinwachter led us on a tour of the farm that Lenore McDonald donated to The Conservation foundation in 1992 to save the property from developers. She designated that the property must be used for conservation, education, and agriculture”. They enjoyed the tour and said it was interesting and informative. Jim will explain to us what they have growing in each of their gardens, including the Butterfly Garden. After lunch in the Clow Education Center on the farm, we can walk across the street to see what wildflowers are blooming. Lunch is bring your own or we can make arrangements with Panera Bread for Pick up or Delivery. Please contact Elaine Allen at rightexposure@mac.com or 708-310-0536 or Kathy English at kathryn_english@comcast.net or call 708-431-8482. Once we know who is coming we will pass on further information.
