Holiday Boutique and Floral Design with Emily Neuman December 8, 2021

“Tis The Season” for a Holiday Boutique! On December 8, 2021 THE GARDEN CLUB OF OAK PARK & RIVER FOREST will host their annual Christmas Boutique and FLORAL DESIGN PRESENTATION at the Cheney Mansion, 220 N. Euclid, Oak Park. The boutique features an array of unique goods made by the many creative members…perfect for hostess gifts, Secret Santa exchanges, teachers, neighbors, and friends. Early bird shopping begins at 11:30 am. (Credit cards accepted). Refreshments and socializing starting at noon. At 1:00 pm, the presenter, Emily Neuman of the EcoWilde Flower Co., will give a one-hour demonstration of floral designs. Three of her arrangements will be raffled at the end of the program. You’re sure to enjoy this festive event at the Cheney Mansion, beautifully decorated for the holidays!
Street parking will be available. Invite friends…ALL are welcome!

The Garden Club of Oak Park and River Forest celebrates its 104th year in 2021.

The Garden Club meets on the second Wednesday of the month at the Cheney Mansion, 220 N Euclid Ave., Oak Park, with social time and announcements from 12-1 pm; the program begins at 1 pm. Free parking is available on the street.

Backyard Birds & Bird Feeding presented by David Brooks. Learn the “how to” of attracting a variety of birds to your yard with feeding stations and food plantings. October’s program, What Locally Grown Honey can do for You is presented by Gregg Walter.

Often discussed, but frequently not known, are the health benefits of locally-grown honey. Not only can you find iron in that dollop of sweetness you add to your tea, but a whole host of other nutrients. We’ll discuss facts and myths plus many other uses for honey.

This program discusses gardening for butterflies including caterpillar host plants and nectar plants for adults. The Manager of Conservation Services of the Schaumburg Park District will address native plant gardens with respect to attractive colors and shapes, sunlight, water and shelter needs, and overwintering considerations.

Garden Club of Oak Park & River Forest Monthly Meeting

Join us for some casual social time at 12:30 PM before the program. The one hour presentation will begin at 1:00 PM. An email reminder will be sent to the registered members a week before the event; a sign-in link will be sent on the day of the program.

Members may freely share the link with friends, but no email links will be sent from the club to non-members.

New members are always welcome. To attend as a member please click Membership and join.

Zoom Program Information

To sign into our Zoom program locate the email with the link to the meeting. It is also helpful to write down, on a sheet of paper the meeting ID, and the Passcode, just in case. Click the Join Zoom Meeting address. This will bring you to a waiting room until the program starts.

It is a good idea to sign on early (15 minutes or so) to make sure your device is connecting. If you cannot connect by clicking on the link, you can go to Zoom.us/join…

If you are joining from a mobile device (Android smartphone/tablet, Apple iPhone/iPad) then it will simply prompt you to download the Zoom Cloud Meetings app from the App/Play Store.

If you are joining from a computer for the first time you will need to download a small application file.

If you sign on with Google you will need to enter YOUR Google password.

We look forward to seeing you at the program. Yes, we will see each other unless you opt out of your video. Your audio will be turned off by the host/program speaker. Questions to the speaker can be typed in the chat bar. These will be answered at the end of the program.

Lighting

It seems best if your lighting is in front of you, not from above or behind.
You can check your lighting by using your phone camera in the selfie mode to check your lighting ahead of time. Position your monitor for the best angle.
